Mission

The InPAC Centre focuses on the promotion and development of security solutions and PKI based applications for communications and transactions over the open Internet and internal intranets. Public key infrastructure (PKI) is a crucial technology in the provision for data security and transactional properties necessary for the conduct of electronic commerce. The Centre also aims to contribute to the development of electronic commerce by advancing effective applications of PKI based technology.

Activities

To promote and advance the application of Internet security and PKI based technologies, the centre will engage in a range of activities, which includes:

• Seminars and forums to promote application of PKI based techniques
• Courses for training security professionals
• Demonstration of CA/PKI operations and applications
• Development of security protocols and PKI based applications
• Original research on practical encryption protocols

Initial projects at the Centre includes:

• Campus Certification Authority (Trial)
• Eudora S/MIME Plug-in
• PKI-based Web Content Protection Scheme
• Secure Internet Auctioning System
• Security Provable Public Key Signature Scheme
• Digital Money based on Zero-knowledge Protocols
